Patrick Fiore

Patrick is a public servant who has been working for the Custer County Public Health Agency since February 2020. His work focuses on addressing the opioid epidemic locally and regionally as well as tackling other substance use issues. The categories of prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction are all included when improving the quality of and access to resources and services in rural and frontier communities. Some previous professions included youth prevention and intervention using experiential and wilderness education.

Since starting graduate school in 2022 at the Anschutz Medical Campus online, Patrick is in his final semester at the Colorado School of Public Health. He will graduate with a Master of Public Health in May 2024 with a concentration in Population Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Patrick has lived in several rural and frontier Colorado communities for over 20 years (and a few in Maine, Wyoming, and Idaho). For the last decade, he has lived in southern Custer County in an off-grid solar-powered cabin in the Wet Mountains overlooking the Sangre de Cristo range. With this personal and professional experience, he looks forward to providing a unique perspective to the CPHA board room and highlighting many of the unique health challenges experienced when living remotely.

Volunteering is a passion of his and he has been a member of Custer County Search and Rescue for nine years and a State Coordinator with the Colorado Search and Rescue Association for over four. He enjoys a wonderful life of sobriety while in recovery from multiple substances. When not working or studying, he spends every moment possible with his long-term partner in Salida.
